Answers to important questions

Is my property covered for subsidence?

Your property is covered in the event of subsidence during the term of the insurance. Please see your policy documents in Your Account for more details on the cover limits and terms.

If the property has previously experienced subsidence or if you have an ongoing subsidence claim with another insurer, we are unable to provide an insurance policy for you.

Is my property covered for flooding?

Your property is covered in the event of a flood.  Please see your policy documents in Your Account for more details on the cover limits and terms.

How do I work out my home rebuilding cost?

In most cases, the rebuild cost usually falls below the market value of your home. However, it doesn’t take into account the value of the land or location, so the rebuild costs might exceed the market value.

If you need help understanding the rebuild cost of your home, there are websites that can assist you, including calculator from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

How can I access my home insurance documents?

Your documents are kept safe and sound in Your Account so you can access them whenever you like. Log in using your email address, your password wil be your policy number, and you can change this once you've logged in.

If you have forgotten your password or don't remember setting up an account when you bought your policy, please click on the 'I've forgotten my details' link.

How do I find out the excess on my home insurance policy?

Your excess amounts are outlined in your policy documents.  The excess is the payment you make towards the cost of your claim. Further details on this can be found in your policy documents in Your Account.

Voluntary excess
A voluntary excess is chosen by you and is the amount you are willing to pay towards a claim. You should consider the most you would want to pay in the event of a claim before proceeding.

In the event of a claim, this is payable in addition to the compulsory excess and will be deducted from the overall claim settlement.

Please note, sometimes you may need to pay your excesses up front for repairs to your home.

Compulsory excess
All policies include a compulsory excess. The excesses below apply to buildings, contents, personal possessions and bicycles.

Where a claim is made for more than one section of cover, we will only apply one excess, but the higher excess will always apply.

In the event of an escape of water claim or subsidence claim, you will be charged the relevant excess in replacement of the compulsory excess. More information can be found in the policy wording or refer to your Schedule.

Example of all excess for building and contents

  Compulsory Voluntary Total
Buildings £200 £250 £450
Contents £200 £250 £450
Escape of water £450 - £450
Subsidence £1,000 - £1,000
Personal possessions £100 - £100
